Carpet Day

Cleaned the carpet in the front room today, just the hallway and bathroom to do tomorrow! the two carpets already cleaned look great! We also brought all the rugs from the bedrooms out onto the deck cleaned one and vacuumed t'others, then left them to lie on the deck in the warm and sun lucky things!
After breakfast down to the shop to pick up the papers, then to the beach to take Ruaridh for his walk, as mentioned although the weather was good we were the only ones on the beach! Had a good walk the wee dog disappeared to have an adventure, eventually Graham found him playing in the gorse bushes!
Back home had lunch sat on the deck, Graham busy on his project, moi finishing the leggings for Bella, they do look great!
Made vegetable soup for dinner with toast, also made scones which we had afterwards with a cup of tea!
Watched the 'Quiet American' movie with Michael Caine so-so. Now to bed. Goodnight.

Carpet Cleaner

Blog late as server was down! Yesterday borrowed neighbours carpet cleaner, to start doing our carpets, she gave me the instructions on how to use it, but as you can guess when I got it home although I followed her words it didn't happen. Eventually Graham got the instruction manuel on the internet, and between that and our two brains we worked something out, one carpet down, two and the hallway to go! here's hoping!
As we got the cleaner we had to go into Kyle to get the solution to put into it the Vac!
Good run in, took Ruaridh for a walk in the woods on the way there, got all our messages and then home. Went down to Sallachy as Graham wanted to take a photo of the scallop designs on the beach, Ruaridh had a great time on the beach.
Home had lunch, then got stuck into the carpet cleaning eventually!
Lovely veggie curry, Persian rice and flatbreads for dinner, made by Graham. Delicious!
Watching a programme on John Lennon quite good. Goodnight.

4th Wall in Kitchen cleaned

This afternoon got stuck in and finished cleaning the kitchen walls, feels good! Also cleaned the wall behind the fridge- freezer and the cooker, as I had to take both appliances away from the wall cleaned the floor under them as well. Went to see neighbour Noonie today to see if we could borrow her carpet cleaner, that is ok, so tomorrow into Kyle to purchase the cleaning fluid and other things!
Shower and breakfast, knitting wool arrived from Bradford that was quick! Worm tablet also came for the dog taken in jam, then to the woods with Ruaridh, quite chilly at times. Once again took some good photographs, on the way home the wee dog decided to have an adventure we called and whistled to no avail. Fifteen minutes of doing this and we heard a yelp coming from the woods, I was waiting at the junction of the road to the woods, when all of a sudden two wabbits hurtled by followed seconds later by an angry terrier!
Home tout suite for lunch, dinner this evening veggie risotto and saladnow going to try and finish the leggings. Goodnight.

Washing Walls

As the forecast today was for rain, I psyched myself up to start to sort the kitchen out at the house in the Glen, as it is quite big it requires a lot of elbow grease. Managed to wash three walls down, and get rid of a lot of excess garbage so feel pleased with myself, tomorrow I hope to do the last wall then start on the floor.
Up quite late, ordered more wool to finish Bella's legging's, Chis the coalman arrived with the anthracite. As the weather was sunny this morning took Ruaridh to the beach, here it was windy and cold, took some good photographs, and the wee dog chased the leaves blowing in the wind. Started to rain so we made tracks for home.
As we had a late breakfast, decided to have lunch later, John H came so that Graham could finish his website!
Telephoned Layla as both her and the wee one are full of colds, looking forward to seeing the whole family for the Easter weekend, oh heard from the company where we purchased the cot it is on its way!
Veggie stew and mashed potatoes with broad beans for dinner. Just watched an episode of The Royale Family absolutely amazing. Made pancake batter, so just going to griddle some. Goodnight.

T'internet order cancelled

Opened my email today surprise, surprise the order I placed yesterday had been cancelled damn, as I live in a remote area I should have been charged for delivery. Try as I did yesterday I could not manage to get their website to accept my billing address was different from the delivery one what a cock up! Apparently I was in the wrong browser, hit the right one today and the cot was ordered again, lets see what tomorrow brings? This company by the way have a call centre that charges £1-50p per minute should you wish to telephone them re your order, emails were returned, fingers crossed the cot arrives, watch this space!
Another very warm and sunny day, after breakfast set off to the woods with Ruaridh, great walk. Home for lunch, then had to spend time sorting the above problem, put me into a great mood!
Into the garden, still clearing debris, helped Graham get the beds in the greenhouse organised, set up No 1 of the new compost bins.
Dinner tonight pasta and tomato sauce, salad and rosemary foccacia. Tired again, still knitting the leggings think I'm going to run out of wool, another order-hopefully over the phone this time. Goodnight.

Ordering on t'internet.

Spent quite a lot of time this afternoon ordering a cot for Bella on t'internet, as Layla pointed out to me quite rightly my patience was soon running out. Don't know how many times and how many postcodes I put on the screen before success the cot was ordered, and I even have a reference number! Hopefully the cot arrives for the wee one in 5 days, as it appears to be hell trying to get through to the company, we shall see!
Up early this morning as we had to rendevous at Kyle with the man from the garage, the courtesy car is ancient but as we have Ruaridh that is better, as his hairs go all over, went into the Coop usual chaos. Popped over to Kylekin on the Isle of Skye, went down to the shore and took photographs.
Back home had lunch, then John H came for Graham to continue his Website!! I made bread, chatted to Layla on the phone she is full of a cold poor thing, but is coping well and Bella is being her usual lovely self.
Played with Ruaridh, then did a little gardening. Veggie sausages, mashed potatoes and carrots for dinner that tasted delicious! Going to do some knitting then bed. Bye.

Dog routine all to Hell!

For some reason Ruaridh is not settling at night, me thought with putting the clock forward one hour he would sleep until at least 0630 hours, no chance he was up at 0400 and 0500h, eventually coming up to us at 0600h. Later getting up had breakfast then set off to the woods, Graham had to return to the house as he was feeling unwell.
Ruaridh and moi set off by ourselves, it was a stunning day warm and lots of sunshine, we did the long walk and saw some of the first signs of Spring, lovely wild primroses, frog spawn, and just as we were returning home a hind deer stood silhouetted on the path in front of us, dreams of a blip shattered as Ruaridh gave chase within a second!
Back home light lunch, cleaned the car as it goes into the garage tomorrow, did more gardening and got rid of lots of old plants.
Cauliflower cheese, roast potatoes and peas for dinner. Did some knitting. Never got round to watching the Danish movie last night too tired as I am now, lovely sunset tonight. Goodnight!

Starting to get the garden in order!

Another lovely day here in the N/W of Scotland decided to get the garden into some shape, spent ages looking for two aluminium tubes that Graham had removed from the self opening windows in the greenhouse, when he fastened them down in December, to no avail, now I find I have misplaced the polybag I put my pegs in damn! Did quite a bit of gardening and also some tidying so is beginning to look better. Ruaridh had a great time digging in a small hill of soil! yes found a rabbit's burrow and the nest? enough said!
Went to pick up the Guardian this morning, then to the beach had a good walk though the wind was cold!
Got back home and after the search! had lunch. Graham busy on a project!
Don't know what's for dinner maybe risotto will wait and see.
Film on BBC 4 is from Denmark so as we are going there our holidays well try to watch it, if not have got the DVD "The Queen!" Also need to carry on with my knitting Bella will love the leggings!
Must remember to put the clock forward one hour tonight, hate losing that time! Bye.

Nirvana!

Today decided to visit Sandaig in an attempt to capture some of the somewhat elusive razor fish. We took tomato and cheese in foccacia bread and coffee for a picnic, as the weather here in the N/W of Scotland is sunny and warm, and we wanted to make the most of it. The walk down is through the forest, timber operations in progress, but it is stunning especially when stood on the hill looking down at the ocean and beaches! Had a super time walking, taking photographs, collecting mussels from the rocks for dinner this evening. Ruaridh loves it down here the walk through the woods, the ocean and the beaches, also he likes to run up and down the rocks great exercise for him! Never found the razor fish another day. Sat on the shore and had our lunch tasted great, the wee dog also enjoyed it!
Had a visit from John H this morning good to see him, he is making a couple of gates for us so that will be super.
Home to tea and scones, Graham making dinner, mussels from the shore and homegrown leeks in cream sauce with homemade pasta, hmm salad and homemade bread aint we cool!!
Must go and see if I can help. Bye.

Summer at the Glen

Well! slept until 0400 hours awakened from a deep sleep by Graham jumping up to tell me the wee dog wanted out, this always happens on the first night of arriving back at Troutmask Cottage. Let the dog out did his stuff then up to our bed, he was up again at what I thought was 0840 hours, joke it was only 0740 hours, I had started to make a cup of tea, had mine Graham's lay at the side of the bed, went cold! On top of all this the dog went back to bed and fell fast asleep buggar!
We got up and had breakfast and a shower, Ruaridh on the deck in the sun! yes today was brilliant warm and sunny!
Went down to the shop to pick up our free range eggs, straight from the croft, then to the beach.
Beach was amazing the tide was way out, Ruaridh loved running on the sand, lots of photographs, sun, sea and sand what more could one ask for! Walking along the shore I kept seeing these small cascades of water coming from the sand, then I realised it was the razor fish disappearing as they felt the vibrations from our feet and the dog's paws! Tomorrow we go to Sandaig to attempt to catch some for dinner! delicious with mussels and pasta!
Back home had lunch, yes one of Lizzies eggs super, made bread, having minestrone soup and foccacia for dinner, followed by scones. good night on T.V. Bye.

Stag at Bay

Very busy this morning getting all the things ready to take to the Glen, even after trying to remember everything forgot the bog rolls and kitchen paper! Ah well. Finished tidying the house managed to get the telephone wire caught in the new vacuum cleaner and disconnected it, damn managed to get it fixed prior to leaving!
Set off with a full car load, went via Glasgow to visit Graham's mum, she is ok appears to get on with the staff very well! which is good news.
Lots of snow on the way up, turned wet and cold, stopped to take some photographs and a woman directed me to where there were some stags so took a 'Snap.' Had a very late lunch at the end of Glencoe, had taken soup in the vacuum flask tasted great.
Arrived at the house it felt good, to be back even in the dreich weather. Ruaridh raced around the garden, now he is fast asleep and dreaming, the journey tires him.
Layla phoned to say Miss Tree weighs in at 10lbs 3oz well done you all.
Lovely meal pasta and tomato sauce for dinner, just about to sit down in front of the lovely fire burning merrily in the stove, with toast and hot chocolate. Goodnight!

Late today!

Late posting today busy getting ready to hopefully return to the Glen tomorrow, going via Glasgow to visit Graham's mother. Hope we manage to get to the N/W whilst there is still snow on the ground! cold yes but looks great! Lots of work to start in the garden during the next few weeks so really looking forward to that, have ordered the anthracite, so we should be cosy with the two stoves burning away! Going to have to start the log collection again as this has shrunk dramatically!
Busy morning took Ruaridh to the park and woods, he met two labradors one just 11 weeks old and had a great time playing with them! also met his wee Border chum Baxter but Ruaridh was very growly towards the wee pup, ? why!
Worked here this afternoon prior to leaving tomorrow, then did the shopping Boots, Homebase and Waitrose phew! then over to Joe, Layla and Bella for dinner. Delicious veggie biriyani, dhal, yoghurt, nanbread followed by chocolate brownies and coffee super! Good evening with the family, many thanks. Bella is a star in her Tub Bath by the way!
Late now-exhausted-cup of tea and to bed. Nay knitting tonight Chris! Goodnight.

A walk with Layla, Bella and Ruaridh!

Got up quite early this morning, hung the washing out, had breakfast and a shower, then settled down to have the third debate in a month with the Department of Work and Pensions. It is so damned annoying when you abide by their rules and regulations, and even then keep coming up against a brick wall! Wasted so much of my time which is precious to me on the telephone to no avail, let's see what tomorrow brings.
Took Ruaridh to the woods then the park where he had a great play with Barney the Lakeland terrier, back home then into the car to visit Layla and Bella. The baby is really coming on and smiles, laughs and makes noises all the time when awake, plus the occasional cry when hungry or annoyed! Had soup and crackers for lunch, then Graham had to leave to go to the accountants. We got ready and set off for a walk, started to rain/sleet, Bella very cosy in her Bugaboo!
Went to the carpet shop, for Layla to choose the carpets, paradise on earth for dogs around that area with regard to food! First Ruaridh had a blackpudding in his mouth which I managed to get rid of, then lo and behold he got a scotch egg and wolfed that down before I could say boo! he was delighted and would have eaten the two that were left on the pavement if he could have got to them. Had a nice walk on the cycle path and in the park, back to the house had a cup of tea when Graham came. Bella laid on the floor and kicked and laughed she is so much fun! Hopefully Ruaridh is getting a bit more used to this wee person, she doesn't appear to give a jot about the dog!
Back home more cleaning bah! Graham made dinner pasta and cheese, salad lovely, ironing calls. Goodnight.

Mothers Day

Do not want to get into a debate whether the above should be acknowledged, celebrated or what, good to have a day for mums, so to you all out there (old or new) keep on Rockin'. Up out of bed quite early as Ruaridh appeared to be hungry which has been the pattern for the day! he has been hanging around his feeding dish and whimpering this afternoon, poor dog you would think we did not feed him!
Took the wee dog up to the woods met quite a few dogs but none interested in playing, Bah! sun out but quite cold. Over to the supermarket to get a few messages. Could not believe my eyes at the checkout, this woman in front of me had bought five packets of apples cut into pieces and ready to eat, what is this country coming to? Layla said I'm ten years behind the times, thank goodness for that.
Jenny won the silver medal at judo, congratulations to her well done!
Cleaned the kitchen cupboards this afternoon, started yesterday but it was really difficult to get into, anyways finished them today!
Graham made dinner veggie risotto and salad lovely. Knitting continues, tired again to bed. Goodnight.

Calm day!

Slept quite late, shower, hair wash and breakfast before taking Ruaridh to the park and woods. Good walk he met a black Labrador called Sammy who wanted to play so they had a great time. Went for the papers, as usual The Guardian had not been saved, but luckily they had one on the shelf this time!
Had an email from Al & Sue they appear to be enjoying their adventures in Vietnam.
Back home had lunch and read the paper, started to clean the kitchen cupboards only got one done! Did the ironing and some washing. Telephoned Jenny at St Annes she is going in for a Judo competition tomorrow, best of luck to her!
Layla sent three great pics of the lovely Bella she is changing all the time.
Graham made dinner lovely vegetable soup, and tinned salmon sandwich. Very tired this evening, early night, maybe do a little knitting and have a cup of tea first. Goodnight.

Two Red Riding Hoods!

Today we had a great day at the beach. Graham was up early so he made tea which tasted great, Ruaridh came to join us in bed and we all fell asleep again! When we awoke had breakfast and a shower, and even though the weather had started to cloud over, still decided to go to the beach! Bought delicious sandwiches from Cafe Citron, made coffee and set off to pick up Layla and Bella. Good run out to the beach but when we arrived there the wind was atrocious and blowing the sand all over the place. We decided to brave it and Layla placed the wee one in the papoose carrier, even then we were concerned that the sand would blow into her face, but she appeared to be OK. Ruaridh was running wild but the strong wind was even to much for him! Lots of wind surfers braving the elements, they seemed to enjoy it but looked frozen!
When we arrived back at the car, Bella had her lunch then we had ours! Ruaridh getting titbits from all!
Stopped at Port Seaton Lidls for messages always find this town a wee tad strange! Home with Layla, Bella changes by the day, today she was laughing and making wee sounds, and letting us know when she wanted something!
Home, lovely homemade 'chicken pies' from Layla for dinner with roast potatoes and peas-super. Making bread, then to bed Goodnight.

Sunny Day

Awoke early today, showered and breakfast by 1000 hours. Elizabeth a friend of the family came for coffee, she has been unwell and it was good to see her. Spoke to Layla the wee sausage Bella had a bad tummy ache last night, so hope there is not a repeat tonight.
Took some photographs in the garden, then mum and me set off to walk to Fairhaven, it was lovely to walk in the warm and sun, took quite a few photographs on the way. Jumped on the bus to Lytham where I took photo's of the boardwalk and the windmill. Then mum and me went to Pizza Express for dinner, I wasn't going to have wine as I thought (wrongly) mum would have a soft drink, no I heard her order a white wine so that gave me the cue to have a red one. Had a lovely dinner cannelloni for mum, and Soho Pizza for me and two green salads treat for Mothers Day! Leaving tomorrow to travel north, at the moment cannot get photographs on the Blog sorry. Goodnight.

Setting up my Blog at mum's Phew!

Hi forgot to mention that yesterday I would be traveling down to mum's, where normally I cannot access my Blog. After blood sweat and tears I have this evening with help from Graham managed it!! Travelled down by train on Monday, entertained in the Quiet Zone by the train manager who was giving a running commentary on anyone and anything! Arrived at mum's around 1830 hours had one of my favorite dinners, potato and onion pie with mushy peas good Red Rose County dish! Harrison popped in with a crumble he had made at school!
Had a great sleep, awoke this morning breakfast, sat around talking to mum, spoke to Layla and Graham, fishman came lovely to see fish the way he sells it! The family came over for dinner this evening, it was good to see them all 'specially Bella who is a mixture of sleeping, waking, laughing, crying, making noises from both ends and being adorable! She attempted something new tonight, as I was talking to her she started to try and hide from me, nuzzling into her mummy and laughing away! Graham made a lovely meal couscous and tangine of vegetables, mushrooms and prawns, salad, yoghurt, and flat breads delicious! Moi did the apple crumble, eaten warm with vanilla icecream!

New Camera

After missing Graham at the supermarket, when we eventually met up he had a lovely surprise for me, not only had he bought a new Canon 400D camera for himself he had bought one for moi. It will take me quite a while to get "to know" the new camera, but looking forward to achieving this, thanks Graham! Already had a little practise so hoping to take it to work tomorrow and try a get some shots.
Work today, once again working with good people, the day went quite quickly, only tomorrow to work then I have finished until the end of May. Met up with patient who I knew, also another consultant I used to work with!
After work walked down to Waitrose saw Graham in the distance, shouted but not loud enough as he went back home! Bumped into Rosie, Dan and baby Zac had a wee chat. Into Waitrose message on my mobile from Graham, telephoned him and sorted out what had happened, some communication hassle!
Home, minestrone soup for dinner followed by chocolate. Playing with my new camera. Bye.

Being clever!

After being clever in last night's blog about my knitting, when I started to knit later I forgot to use two bigger size needles, I was using one 4mm and one 31/4, Damn I had to take quite a lot of it back never mind on the right road now on two 4mm's!
Up early this morning as we were going through to Glasgow, to visit Graham's mum and meet up with the staff for her assessment. Shower, breakfast then we took Ruaridh a walk in the woods, met one or two dogs but none appeared inclined to play.
Motorway traffic bad near to Glasgow due to two breakdowns on the M8, oh well eventually we arrived and saw Graham's mum, she was quite good and liked the basket of flowers we had taken for a belated birthday gift. Saw two of the staff for the assessment and Betty is now a permenant resident.
Traffic ++ on the way home not to bad when we left the city!
Home, made bread, then to Homebase as Graham wanted to buy a saw. Veggie toad in the hole, mashed tatties and carrots for dinner tasted good as we were hungry.
Just about to go to bed as it is a long day at work tomorrow. Goodnight.

For Chris!

Today my colleague Chris who is an avid reader of my Blog! brought to my attention that almost every night I mention the fact that I am knitting, but forget to let you the dear readers know just what it is that I am knitting! The photograph shows you, one finished red cotton jumper, and half a legging, the other half is still in production and is what I am knitting now!
Had a good day at work, won't be seeing quite a few of my chums for a while, as I won't be working for their college again until October. June/July this year is hopefully going to be spent canoeing!

Buying Buttons

Up to the city centre today as I had some messages to do, and I was going to meet up with Layla and Bella, for a coffee. Bought myself some new boot leg jeans from Gap, a toss up between size 14 or size 12 got the smaller ones as the young guy serving said the material would stretch and they would get bigger! here's hoping! Went to Waterstones to buy a book for Graham, met Phil Duthy who has a wee toddler, said he has not had a good nights sleep for ages! To the post office where I got all the posting done! Met up with the two girls, they had been to visit a friend, Bella had a great time frowning at me she makes me laugh with her wee expressions! bought some lovely buttons for Bella's wee jumper, had an awful coffee at the Elephant and Bagel and had to rush Bella on a little with her feed, as they decided to shut the cafe at 1630 hours!!

Denmark

Tonight we finally settled on a holiday house in Denmark, we are hoping to go for the month of September 2007, the one we have chosen is in North Jutland about 200 metres from the ocean! just before booking it, we decided to check the ferry from Rosyth, good job we did as no special cabins appear to be available on the dates we wish to go! Special because of course we are taking wee Ruaridh with us and would prefer a cabin that he can share. So tomorrow on the telephone to Superfast Ferries to find out what the problem is!
Work today, could have stayed in bed this morning, but once up and showered felt better. Good day went quite quickly, off tomorrow lots to do!
Graham brought Ruaridh to meet me, the wee dog is always so happy to see us when we have been away from him for a while!
Minestrone soup and scrambled egg sandwiches for dinner followed by Scotch pancakes. Finished one leg of the leggings looks great! Going to make a cuppa then to bed. Goodnight

Onion Sets and Seeds

Down to Inverleith allotments today, as during the months of March and April they run a shop that sells seed potatoes, onion sets and packets of seeds. The shop was like an iron portokabin, no light and this rather pucker couple there selling the goods, (actually they were very nice.) We bought onion sets and seeds for ourselves and Layla, when we got home had to sort through the onions as some were already sprouting and others were quite soft! not going to argue as they only charged a £1 for a pound weight, hmm where is the metric! As the weather had changed and it was now raining took the car with us, called into Waitrose on the way back, no problem got the shopping done!
Up quite late this morning, I am finding it difficult to sleep past 0700 hours as this is the time I am up for work! so this morning attempted to go back to sleep, think I did as I had a weird dream!
Took Ruaridh to the woods which he does enjoy.
Made bread this afternoon, did my blip and some knitting.
Graham made a lovely meal, Persian rice and prawn curry with flatbreads, swilled down with beer-yummy!
Going to have a drink then to bed work calls tomorrow. Goodnight.

New Allotment

Promised Layla that today we would go and see her new allotment, weather was OK sunny but still with a cold wind. picked up some sandwiches from Cafe Citron, made a big flask of coffee and away we go. First to the house to get Layla and Bella as we were walking to the allotment, Joe was coming but he decided to drive as he was taking his tools to do some work if required. The walk over was lovely went through this old churchyard were I got a photograph of a time glass on a grave for my blip! Also walked over the "links" and it was lovely to see all the crocus blooming, super colours.
Arrived at the allotments, Layla's new one is quite open and faces south, as it was such a good day we decide to start digging, and turn the soil over. We had to go to the old plot to pick up the necessary tools, then we got started, Joe was clearing the greenhouse, Bella decide to stay in her pram and sleep! Karen arrived and soon many hands make light work! we dug over about a good half of the plot. Suddenly the weather changed and bacame cold, dark rain clouds gathering in the west, just as we decided to leave the rain started, drove back to Layla and Joe's had lunch then came home, leaving the wee one 'playing' with her mobile
Took Ruaridh to the woods this morning, then he had a great time at the allotment sniffing all over the plot.
Minestrone soup for dinner followed later by pancakes. Juat watched a movie on BBC4 'Reichenbach Falls' quite good. Bye.
Forgot to mention there is a total eclipse of the moon going on at this moment 2330 hours moon is now in darkness, but with a lovely warm orange glow. Amazing!

Ann Purna

Today the family went out to celebrate Joe's birthday, for the celebratory dinner he had chosen the Ann Purna, a super Indian Vegetarian Restaurant close to the University. We have been here before, and the food is great, when we arrived we said to the owner a table for five under the name of Tree, no he said you are wrong it is a table for six, don't forget the baby! as though we would, wee Bella was a star and slept soundly all evening! lovely meal in good company.
Graham had a business meeting in Glasgow today, so I left work early. Got home and Ruaridh was delighted to see me! we played for a while, then I took him to the park and woods, doggie heaven he didn't know which way to turn there were so many dogs to play with. He had a great time and ran about all over the place with all the dogs! eventually we got our walk, it was warm and sunny so it was lovely to be out in the fresh air!
Did some knitting this afternoon, back home now and just going to have a cup of tea then to bed. Goodnight.
