Snow!!

Awoke this morning to about 10cms of snow, which looked lovely but turned out to be very soft and wet. By this evening lots has gone but the snow/hail/rain showers continue so who knows what the morrow brings.
After breakfast Graham started on the log pile, I started to fill the baskets then decided to take the wee fellow who was getting grumpy at the delay in his walk for a trot along the river. All fine on the outward journey, lovely walk. Coming back Ruaridh started to run ahead, not knowing why I shouted Wait but he wanted to keep going, I was running after him crossed a burn and slipped in wet through! It was Graham who Ruaridh had sensed on the road looking for us!
Got home no Graham got changed set off to find him, never checked my wee camera! when I did too late it was wet and not working. Nuff said!!! Will phone Leica tomorrow.
Phoned mum she is OK looking forward to lunch with Sheila and Jo from Wigan.
Spoke to Layla she appears to be OK as is Bella!

Sleet

Awoke to a cold dreich morning with sleet blowing down from the heavens! After breakfast and a wash, whilst Graham stayed in bed as he has a bad cold and cough Ruaridh and moi set off to post a card for Miss B. Before going I telephoned John H who is going to be doing the bathroom in Edinburgh and he is coming up this afternoon.
The Wonder Dog and moi had a super walk to the post box even though it was raining and sleeting. We saw the we lamb in the field, at the moment it appears to be OK.
Had lunch then John arrived after quite a lot of excess discussion managed to (I hope) sort the bathroom in Edinburgh out. He is coming down the first week in May to do the work! Ruaridh had a great play with his friend Misty!
Minetrone soup with crackers followed by tinned salmon sandwiches on soda bread-lovely. Mum has got the bill for the wll her share not too bad!

Eels and crabs

Today we bought salt and went to try and find razor fish under the sand, no success will have to speak to our man Chis! and seek his advice again. However we did find lots of small slippery eels under rocks in the rock pools, also two crabs which Ruaridh couldn't fathom, did they give his wee nose a nip?
Back home had some lunch then made a soda bread which always goes down well. Spent some time in the garden attempting to try and tidy same, lopped some cherry branches that we had cut down the last time we were here. Burnt some on the stove-love that smell.
Ruaridh had a great time playing with his new chum the Collie pup Misty.
Made veggie toad-in the-hole with boiled potatoes and broccoli for dinner lovely.
Did my commenting on blip and my blog, to bed. Goodnight.

Pasta Day

Graham decided to make homemade pasta today to make ravioli, as we had no 00 pasta flour he decided to use bread flour and eggs and did it in the food mixer. Sad to say when we attempted to put it through the pasta machine it fell apart. Started all over this time by hand, worked better but not the best pasta Graham has made.
However the filling was delicious and we enjoyed the ravioli with fresh tomato sauce and salad-delicious.
Up and about early a we had put the clocks forward an hour last pm for summertime, so although my iPhone registered 0800h my body and brain registered 0700h! However Ruaridh wanted out and fed so here I am. Back to bed and crashed out, Graham woke me with a morning cuppa about 1000h bliss.
Up made breakfast, then had a wash before taking Ruaridh a walk in the woods. Everything looks very dowdy after the snow and ice, lots of branches broken on the trees, only about four primroses out, just an air of a 'hangover' about the place, come on Spring!
Had lunch then finished Bella's cardigan, two buttons short but my mm is going to try and get them for me.
To bed starting a new novel. Goodnight.

Wallander

This evening watched a programme with a Swedish detective Wallender in it on BBC 4. Enjoyed this one, I remember a wee while ago watching one which was quite startling, this one was a bit more subdued but still plenty of murders! Wallender solved themurder mystery.
Up with Ruaridh back to bed with a cuppa for a doze.
Up and about breakfast then after a wash into the garden to help Graham by moving the logs he had sawed. Didn't take the Wonder Dog for a walk as he played with Misty the neighbouring crofters Border Collie pup and had a great time. The two of them run into the field I followed them to get rid of some ashes and saw a new lamb just born, didn't know that the sheep there were in lamb??
Lunch blew the eggs to be scrambled so that the shells can be used for painting at the weekend.
Spoke to Layla, she and Bella had a busy afternoon at the allotment.
Took the dog for a short walk before dinner he was disappointed we didn't go further, and had an adventure in the woods on the way back.

Pissed off Day

Today after a lot of hassle I got a time for the gas engineer to come (we have not had any hot water since Thursday last! He duly arrived at 1045h and did the repair, the only thing being he misplaced a screw (ie dropped it) that was necessary for the job to be finished properly. An hour later and after some furniture removing we found the screw under the washer!
From him as we were searching for the screw I also learnt how to check the snow for the risk of avalanche, and how to navigate off the mountain in a white out which I found very interesting.
Two cuppas and two and a bit hours later he was on his way, I thought job well done until this evening when yes guess what we not only have no hot water we have now got NO heating. Phoned Scottish gas now awaiting a call from a manager--dream on.
Up early washed and breakfast took Ruaridh to the woods early due to the engineer coming. Made dog biscuits this morning, then when the engineer left had lunch. Phoned mum she still sounds to be full of a cold, however she says she is feeling better. Did some knitting then took Ruaridh on a long walk, met a lovely lady had a blether about the beauty of Scotland the mountains and glens.
Graham home had a cuppa, dinner tonight salmon in cream sauce, pasta, salad and homemade bread-Hmmm, courtesy of Graham.
