Shell Path!

Sorry no Blog yesterday Graham was off as it was Bank Holiday Monday and last night watched a repeat of the film 'The White Ribbon'. It is a very intense film quite dark and harrowing in parts and I was so interested I forgot to blog!!
Graham moi and Ruaridh had a lovely afternoon at 'Tin in the Ham' beach, the sun shone the surf pounded, and the beach sparkled. We walked about four miles on the beach and in the sea, the wee fellow had a great time chasing stones in the sea. So peaceful here.
Called at Waitrose on the way back and got messages.
G&T time then sat down to a lovely dinner of courgette risotto with salad courtesy of Graham--lovely!
After the movie bed. Goodnight.
Today after a wash and breakfast jumped into the car with Ruardih and headed off to the local beach, had a lovely walk in the early morning sun. Found a couple of balls on the beach however after a small play Ruaridh was not interested. Delighted that I was able to throw stones for him into small pools of water! met a Labradoodle named Max, Ruardih normally likes to play with this breed today not interested!
Back home got the dinner ready for this evening as the family are coming. Cleaned the bathroom then took Graham's broken umbrella to the post so that he can get a replacement!Had a shower and washed my hair.
Went to meet Miss B back home had a lovely time playing, reading stories, watering the garden and staying cozy, before Grandpa and Daddy and Mummy arrived!
Got the dinner ready roasted vegetables and pasta with salad and homemade bread, followed by ice cream-lovely.
Family left after coffee from the Presso. I phoned mum she is looking forward to seeing us tomorrow. I did my ironing as we are going to see the memsahib tomorrow for a couple of nights. So no Blog for a few days. Must go and pack then bed. Goodnight.

My One and Only Gig!

This evening I'm going with my chums Jane C and Christal S to see the Pina Bauch performance at the Playhouse Theatre. Went over to Jane's for 1800h for drinks, a lovely walk on a warm and sunny evening through Inverleith Park.
At Jane's had a good chat with herself Christal and Gillian, Jackie arrived rather late!
Enjoyed the drink and the broccoli quiche, before setting off to walk to the theatre.
A superb performance of 'Dance' in many forms, the dancing was exquisite, choreography amazing as was the scenery especially the swimming under water one wow. The whole performance was life enhancing, my only critique would be at times the music was to me overloud and quite 'jumpy'. Thanks Jane for organising this outing.
After the show walked with Christal a wee way along Princes St then she got a bus and Graham picked me up at the West End. A lovely evening. Now to bed. Goodnight.

life.turns. premier!

Tonight was the night that the life.turns. film premiered, and a 'Super Time Was Had By All'. Bella and moi arrived around 1945h and spoke to lots of people. People kept arriving and soon it was time to see the film. Over the past month people on blipfoto.com had been asked to send in images of themselves or other people from one of the eight different poses we use for walking. This could also be done at Inspace, lots and lots of people participated, and their images were then placed in zoetropes around the Inspace area. Towards the end Joe made a film of the images and a brilliant job he did too it was amazing to see photo's pass you by on the film. Cheers and clapping at the end for Joe well done that man!
Earlier in the day took Ruaridh down to the shore and had a lovely walk met a nice man with a rescue dog called Jess, had a chat. Home, Layla and Bella arrived for lunch, then Bella and moi made a Birthday cake for Graham whose Birthday is tomorrow--secrets shhhh.
Took Ruaridh to the park he had a run around and Bella played on the play park!
Back home Layla left for her meeting and Bella and moi had dinner, fish, chips and peas delicious. Quick wipe of face and hands then off to catch a bus to see the film!
As I stated above was a great success. Back home to a delighted Ruaridh, did bits and bobs then to bed. goodnight.

Feeling Better

Still somewhat wibbly wobbly but getting there, feeling somewhat more human this evening. Managed two bagels today and lots of drinks, then had a lovely courgette and broad bean risotto for dinner courtesy of Graham tasted really good.
Stayed in bed most of the day, sleeping on and off, doing emails, texts and making phone calls to Layla, she and Bella are fine.
Felt better after a sleep this afternoon changed the bed, showered and washed my hair still hanging out in PJ's though.
Deleted all my photo's for Wednesday really pissed off mainly 'cause Bella had taken some really good ones, ah well should look before I leap, blame it on the feeling less than human.
So I have missed my first blip in four years!
Just going to have a drink then hit the sack, hope I feel as well again tomorrow as I did today. Goodnight.

Mince

Had a lovely day at the allotment yesterday with Layla, Bella and Ruaridh. We walked there and picked lots of beans and courgettes, also a few tomatoes were ready for Bella. It was very warm and after a few photo calls we walked to get the bus back.
Had a very late lunch sat in the garden, then into the car fora shop at Asda, got all my messages then back to the house. Had a coffee when Joe arrived home, then left for home, felt slightly peculiar on the drive home didn't think anything of it arrived home safe and sound.
Let the dog out and into the house, got the messages from the car putting them away when suddenly the whole word started to spin (no drugs or alcohol involved!)and I felt very nauseous. Sat down felt worse, then the throwing up started accompanied by being dizzy felt hellish. Waited for Graham to arrive then to bed. Slept solid until this morning, still feeling dizzy as my chum says feeling mince.
Graham had to go to Inspace so Layla and Bella had the Wonder Dog who I believe had a great time at Cammo Stake as Miss B calls it.
I slept most of the day kept fluids down and the dizzy spells lessened, Listened to a play on iPlayer.
Graham home around 2115h had toast and tea kept down. Feeling bit better though will have to postpone visit to visit Liz in Kemnay, feel sad about this as we were looking forward to going. Very tired. Goodnight!

'Granny---

---have you lowered your sink' asked Bella this evening as she washed her hands in the bathroom. 'No sweetheart you have grown' said I. These few words made my day as she looked at me in wonderment.
Another quite busy day, after breakfast and a wash off up Corstorphine Hill with the Wonder Dog had a lovely walk, the sun shone and the warm wind blew.
Made batter for pancakes and butternut squash soup then had a light lunch before setting off to meet up with Miss B. Did some shopping then met Graham who was coming to meet Bella with me as a surprise. She was delighted to see him and we went to a cafe to have tea and an apple juice for her. Got the bus home, trying to catch a bus in the city at the moment is hellish worse I have ever known.
At ours played in the garden, then Graham left to go to a reception with Joe that Creative Scotland were hosting, Layla was going out with her chums so it was just Bella and moi. Played some more then a story before Bella wanted her dinner she helped me in the kitchen then we sat down to Pasta and pesto with bread and a salad, we both enjoyed this.
Whilst I cleared away Bella watched a 'Charlie and Lola' episode then we watched one together before making the pancakes. Had great fun doing this, Bella gave the batter a final beating then onto the griddle three at a time. She enjoyed one with strawberry jam and a drink of milk then had half of one.
Her mummy arrived as a surprise then not long afterwards Grandpa and Daddy arrived. The reception had been worth while. Family left and Graham had soup and toast, pancakes and a cuppa. Tired now. Bye.

Catching up. Saturday blog

Sorry missed my blog yesterday, we had a great day up early as we were heading out to 'Tin in the Ham'(Tyninghame) beach, with Layla and Bella. Had to call at the dreaded supermarket first as we needed pitta bread and milk, we had coffee and grapes ?
Over to theirs got it together, Layla made the picnic then with bag packs off we set in the car.
Lovely journey in the sun through East Lothian, Layla did a great job navigating and before long we were at the parking area before the walk to the beach. What an amazing beach stretched for miles and hardly anyone on it, and the ocean so blue and clear.
Had our lunch, then lots of sea water puddles that Bella had a great time in, splashing, swimming and running from one to the other. Ruaridh enjoyed himself running after sticks thrown into the sea, and running like crazy on the beach. Just a lovely day:)
Walked back to the car this walk is so pleasant, lots of wild raspberries in the hedgerow, and wild flowers.
Back at their house, got ready as we were going out for fish and chips. Then we were staying with Bella as layla and Joe were going to a party. Enjoyed our fish and chips then when finished had a walk to the lighthouse before going back to theirs.
Read a story then PJ's on, supper then up to bed read a couple of stories before Miss B went to sleep.
Watched a movie, excellent must get the title as we didn't see the end!. Layla and Joe home had a wee chat then we left for home. Very tired, bed - goodnight.
Sunday for some reason awoke early, up with Ruaridh then back to bed for a read and doze. Then made breakfast for us all as Graham is working at Inspace today, he left and after a wash Ruaridh and moi set off for a walk through the meadowland, it was sunny and warm and I aw coots and moorhens on the pond.
Back home made bread, had my lunch sat outside, read my book, had a chat with Patricia my neighbour. Made tomato sauce for the dinner, did some knitting and then a stack of ironing!! Phoned mum she is fine, Muriel visiting!

Red Box Noodle House!

This evening the life.turns project are holding a secret event, as Layla is one of the secret agents Bella will stay with me then the two of us will get the bus over to find her mummy.
As Ruaridh will be left by himself this evening once breakfast was over and I was showered and had washed my hair, we jumped into the car and set off to the shore and beach. We had a super walk on the beach towards the East Ruaridh found a pool to paddle in and also chase the blackbirds. Walked quite a way then up onto the shore, met a dog walker with seven dogs and had a chat with him as we turned round to walk back. Ruaridh had a good play with a wee dog called Milo.
Back home vacuumed and brought Bella's books and toys down into the lounge.
Had a light lunch just making my coffee when the girls arrived. Layla and moi had coffee and the wee one had apple juice. We read and played then Bella wanted to see 'my meadow' so we donned wellies and wet weather gear and went via the park. She saw coots and moorhens on the wee 'pond' ate wild raspberries and like the local woods.
Back to the house and Layla left to get ready, Bella watched a 'Charlie and Lola' then we had chips and beans. After which we got ready to go and find a secret agent. Town was mobbed but we arrived at the destination and after a phone call we found mummy aka secret agent in a blonde wig with sore feet! Bella did not know what to make of it but became the proud owner of a big 'Red' ring.
Went to Inpace where the code had been cracked--thank goodness. Met people, had chats stayed with Bella. After the event finished went to the Red Box Noodle House with the family, had a delicious box of noodles with vegetables and prawns. Home on the bus Ruaridh delighted to see us, bed. Goodnight.

Back to the Allotment!

As Graham was leaving today to go to Inspace to continue with life.turns. Layla phoned on behalf of Bella to find out when I would be going over to see her. Had a quick wash got the Wonder Dog and everything sorted, then into the car and off!
Called at Waitrose on the way to get some messages then off to see Miss B.
Arrived and sat in the garden to have a chat, Bella went to play with two chums whilst Layla got lunch to take to the allotment.
Drove over in lovely sunshine, did some work then had lunch before picking lots of different beans, raspberries, strawberries and tatties. All of a sudden huge drops of rain started to fall and a monsoon rain happened, we all huddled in the shed, poor Ruaridh hated the thunder and lightening, Bella was fine as long as I held her. It was quite a spectacle accompanied at the end by big hailstones.
When all this calmed down we got our things together and to the car, went to Asda to get strawberries for the jam along with a few other items! Back to their house-got the strawberries ready for the jam, then played with Bella and read a story. We also sang a couple of songs whilst preparing the strawbs.
Left when a very wet Joe arrived home.
Arrived home phoned mum she is much better!-- Made dinner butternut squash risotto and salads.
Very tired going to make a cuppa then bed. Goodnight!

Pure Magic

That was today! Today was one of those days. Set off in brilliant sunshine to go on a chanterelle hunt, you guessed it we found lots! the woods were great not too many midges and we were sure The Wonder Dog led us to the fungii!
Afterwards went to one of our favorite lochs and sat and ate crisps and drank water and would you believe it found more chanterelles.
Had a paddle and took in the peace that will last with us until we return next month!
Back home cleaned and fried the chanterelles before they hit the freezer, kept enough back for dinner tonight.
Spoke to mum she is feeling better after a wee blip in her life yesterday.
Also Layla who is very tired. Bella is fine.
Ruaridh was on a hunt at the log store havn't a clue what is in there but obviously something small and furry!
Chanterelles in cream sauce with pasta, salad and homemade bread yummy!

Swallows

This afternoon lots of swallows decide to choreograph their lives over the deck and above the trees in the garden! I decided to sit out on the deck this afternoon and get on with knitting Miss B's sweater. Suddenly there was this swoosh and lots of swallows were over the deck, then rising above the trees catching the insects that soared into the air as the wind ruffled the tops of the trees a truly amazing sight.
Had a lovely walk on the village beach, Ruaridh really enjoyed rushing into the sea/river after thrown stones, always returning with one much bigger than the one thrown!
Also visited the village store to get messages.
Graham made a lovely curry for dinner with rice and some flat bread -delicious.
Worked on blip and my blog then to bed. Goodnight!

Finished

This morning I awoke quite early, after seeing to the Wonder Dog I went back to bed and finished the book that Layla loaned to me, Maggie O'Farrell's latest book 'The Hand That First Held Mine' I enjoy her books and this one was no exception!
Up for breakfast of scrambled eggs on toast with coffee-lovely.
Made a soda bread and got the bread dough ready, then more work attempting to strim more grass and rake what we strimmed yesterday!
Very tired in the afternoon, but took the Wonder Dog for a stroll in the early evening couldn't spy any fungii!
Graham made a delicious dinner pasta with tomatoes, garlic and basil cooked in olive oil! My contribution was the salad of Layla's lettuce, avocado and basil oh and not forgetting the homemade bread!
After this feast we settled down to watch a Chinese epic film 'The Red Cliff' don't really know what it was about (apart from falling asleep during it for about twenty minutes) it was certainly action packed! Enjoed a glass of red wine and chocolate whilst watching it. Bye.

Music Night!

Early in the evening Christine our neighbour and moi are totting off to the village hall for two hours of music! This concert is now an annual event and the money goes to the Macmillan Nurses who support and advise people with cancer. The performers all do it for free and I must say I was amazed at the local talent.
A choir, solo singers, guitarist, Highland dancing, fiddle playing were all part of the programme and last but not least two families from Germany sang a German folk song, a super evening. Not forgetting the usual raffles, rather sad to see a somewhat low turnout but maybe people not attending had contributed in other ways.
A busy day starting on the 'jungle grass' strimmed lots of it after a breakfast of veggie sausage sandwich with coffee. Ruaridh's friend Misty was over to play with him and they had a great time.
Spoke to Layla this morning she and Bella are fine going swimming!
Spoke to mum she is OK.
Had a shower and washed my hair before going to the gig.
Graham made minestrone soup for dinner followed by tinned salmon sandwich, which we had on my return a good day!
The couple in the photo sang a lovely song written by a Canadian ? Scott Rogers, can't remember the name of the song:( Goodnight.

On the Road

Today brought us to the cottage in the N/W Scotland. We left Edinburgh in sunshine that stayed with us most of the way apart from the occasional heavy shower. Good journey and good to be back in the Glen albeit for a short break.
The garden is a jungle again so lots of grass cutting in the offing! Although overgrown the garden looks charming in a cottage sort of way! Sadly no plums this year but still have some frozen and preserved from 2008!
Broccoli quiche, new potatoes and french beans (both from the allotment) for dinner lovely.
Stove going, chocolate and a glass of wine before bed. Goodnight.

Produce

Fun and work at the allotment today! Arrived to see Layla and Bella about 1130h as we were going to the allotment, they were almost ready and Layla took a packed lunch. It was very hot today, however when we arrived we started work straight away. Ruaridh of course kept having a wander so we all had to keep an eye on him to stop him roaming.
The onions were lifted and eventually found their way onto the metal racks in the greenhouse, although there were too many and some we had to leave in Bella's wee wheelbarrow! Had our lunch then Bella and moi picked raspberries and ate most of them. Layla was busy in the greenhouse (Graham and moi got our first cucumber)-she was also busy picking beans (all varieties) and potatoes. Bella was a great help making holes in the soil for the leeks to go into, then we placed the leeks into the holes and filled the holes with water. It was so hot Ruaridh found refuge under the corn! Layla watered and then we left to go to Asda as I needed messages to go to the N/W with.
Had a good shop and a drink in the cafe then took Ruaridh a wee walk, back to theirs, played in the garden with Bella, pushing her on the swing quite high! Joe came home and I left as I had to visit Waitrose for some goodies and make the dinner for Graham coming home!
Pasta and tomato sauce with salad and bread for dinner-lovely. Did the ironing and then to bed. Goodnight.

Au Revoir

Today we said goodbye to our visitor Gittan from Sweden who has been with us from last Wednesday! She is a blipper and we invited her over so that she could attend the opening night of the blipfoto project life.turns. that is happening at Inspace as part of the Edinburgh Arts Festival. She has been very good company and tonight the house is much quieter without her laughter!
We had some lovely days both weather wise and with her company, she was a big hit with Miss B who loved the Bamse bear umbrella that was brought from Sweden. Also the Wonder Dog was a favorite! We visited the allotment, she went to blipcentral and met the staff, and had fun at Inspace meeting people in 'real' life.
Walks on the shore, on Corstorphine Hill, in Ravelston woods and finally yesterday on Portobello Beach. She loved walking in the city and the very first night here she as given Graham's tour-camera always at the ready.
We had good chats in English (my Swedish is non existent) and found we liked and loved a lot of the same things.
Today we had to say Au revoir, lunch with Graham, Layla, Bella and moi at Pizza Express before big hugs and kisses put Gittan on the bus to the airport! She is now home safely in Sweden.
Thanks Gittan for coming and for your daughter Rosie's CD she has an amazing voice! I have listened to it this evening.
Now I'm tired and allotment day tomorrow. Goodnight!
