Midsummer Rain

Midsummers Day how it rained, managed to get out for a walk with the Wonder Dog before the rain became torrential! Went to meet Miss B, home for lunch lovely afternoon spent with Bella, we played games, read stories and made pancakes for dessert.
Liz our long time buddy arrived to stay a couple of nights good to see her, Graham and Joe picked her up at the station all go! Lovely dinner of pasta, pesto and tomato sauce with olives and green salad. Dessert served by Miss B--strawberries and icecream and crepes (pancakes) made by Bella and I.
Bella was full of fun and how we clapped and laughed at her jumps on the sofa. Good to spend the evening chatting to Liz--like minds!!
Friday Graham full of a cough and cold, Liz and I took the Wonder Dog for a short walk along the shore, then over to visit the girls.
Spent a lovely time with them Liz peased to see Layla and Bella again.
Saturday Liz left for Glasgow to see her daughter, took her up town to get the bus. Didn't hang around after her bus left hot footed it home.

Strange Week

Will be staying in the Red Rose County until Thursday, should have been here until Sunday with G and Ruaridh coming down Thursday, however mum now only requires one treatment so I'm heading North makes things easier!
Monday Layla sent some rhubarb for the Memsahib-I cooked it, put lots of honey in as it was very sour.
Put a crumble on the top of the rhubarb and baked it. Rhubarb and honey seeped through the crumble and formed a delicious sticky topping.
So sweet claps your jaws together:)
Lovely walk on the beach in hot sunny weather, Ann in to shower mum then two of mum's friends visited. Took mum to view a couple of places for a respite visit when Ann is on holiday, not sure she is overkeen but her safety and well being come first! Staff at both places extremely helpful and cheery! we will see ?
Wednesday took the memsahib and Ann out for lunch, a somewhat belated one for Ann's special Birthday.
We were so busy eating and chatting I forgot to take a photo of the event.
Thursday left the Red Rose County for home today, caught an earlier train, went to meet G and Ruaridh at Layla's. Good to see everyone, The Wonder Dog's life is back to 'normal'.
Friday We ventured out to the beach today at Tyneinghame and we were the only people there man, woman and dog. We got wet through but it was fun and exhilerating. The Wonder Dog loved it and chased all over the beach and sand dunes, home now looking forward to a warm and cozy evening:)
Sunday once again a walk in the rain, along the shore at Newhaven and the shiny streets. Loved the way the wash from a tug boat left the ripples on the sea.
Enjoyed a dance with Miss B, scones and coffee with the family. Watched 'The Spiral' on BBC 4 last pm excellent.

Meet with S & J.

This evening drove down to Stockbridge to have a chat and drink with Susan and Jo at Aroca. Like this pub/cafe great atmosphere.
Stayed for a couple of hours then home as I'm heading down to the Red Rose County tomorrow as the memsahib is to have some treatment for an ulcer on her face on Saturday.
Friday busy day as I got ready to travel down to the Red Rose County, took Ruaridh for his constitutional, cleaned the car had a shower and washed my hair then over to leave Ruaridh with the girls.
Had lunch with them, then they went to the library and I got the bus on the start of my journey South. Uneventful trip good to see mum she goes for her treatment tomorrow.
Saturday dawned, up early as Ann was coming to take us to the hospital for the first part of mum's treatment. The Nurse Practitioner who was going to do the procedure was excellent, the cream was put onto the affected area and we were asked to come back at 1400h. The good news being mum only requires one treatment.
Back in the pm Ann and I had to don shades (touch of Blues Brother's) as did mum and the nurse. Then this brilliant light was projected down onto the ulcer for the required time. Mum coped amazingly well, soon we were home, mum asleep in no time Annand I had a cup of tea and a chat.
Tuesday left the Glen in lovely sunshine to return to the city after a long lazy weekend.
Wednesday Ruaridh and I spent some time with the girls, Bella did a lovely dance to Pinky and Perky singing 'Side by Side' her burling was great!

A Long Weekend!

Today we returned to the city after a long week-end at the cottage, where the sun came up around 0530h and didn't disappear until after 2130h. Had a lovely time doing very little!
The garden at the cottage is overgrown, and at the moment does resemble a jungle! However the poppies look amazing especially in the sunlight.
Today has for me been a lazy day, breakfast in bed which I made, so it was boiled eggs and toast with cafeteria coffee.
Sat outside in the sun most of the day reading Saha a story with amazing recipes.
Just had a G&T and awaiting dinner, Graham's roasted tomatoes with cannellini beans and his newly baked focaccia:)
Watched the second part of Sebastian bergman on BBC 4 excellent!
Sunday Graham's cherry focaccia and coffee for breakfast delicious! Love reading, sometimes feel I don't read enough (no time). However I have enjoyed the six books that G ordered me for Christmas from Persephone books, the last one was delivered in May and quite a poignant read.
'Miss Ranskill Comes Home' written by Barbara Euphan Todd the story unfolds with many facets to it, you are taken from a desert island to war strewn England with all the adventures that occur.
Only the other day did I learn the above author also wrote Worzel Gummidge very interesting:)
Edit:- At the moment trying to read 'lighter novels' as I have become too fond of Scandinivian Thrillers!!
Did the long walk in the woods! G made fresh pasta and made Tortelli di Zuca or fresh pasta stuffed with butternut squash!!
Monday Christine popped over for a visit, had a fry up for breakfast, then another walk in the woods. We couldn't go the way we wished as timber operations are in progress! Made bread.
Attempted another cyanotype with the negative turned out fine but over exposed.
Tuesday left the Glen after a long, sunny, lazy weekend:) Journey to Edinburgh not too bad!

Different Route

Today due to a fatal accident on the A9 which meant a closure of a whole swathe of road, we had to travel a different route.
It took us longer to get to the Glen but heh the sun shone putting us in a holiday mood, and we were able to stop in Glen Etive one of my favorite places for a late lunch.
We parked had a walk, Ruaridh fell in a wee burn (brook) and we ate our sandwiches, shortbread and enjoyed the coffee.
Now at the cottage with the sun sinking slowly in the West enjoying a G&T. Cheers.
