Warm, windy, day

Today Ruaridh and moi went down to the shore it was a lovely day and quite a lot of people were down there with their dogs. I'm always planning to get the bus part way back as it is about a five mile round trip, so far I have never done this as once I'm walking I just carry on. We go on the cycle path for quite a long way, then on the road before we reach the shore, but once there it is worth it 'specially when the sun is out and a warm wind is blowing.
Ruaridh had a great time chasing leaves and I meandered along enjoying the peace and warmth, in fact I think I got a wee bit sunburnt.
Back home sorted mum's utility problem, then finished the wee cardigan. Had lunch then time to set off to get Miss B.
Picked her up then we had a nice walk through The Meadows she always enjoys looking at everything what is going on there, the lads playing football, the cranes at the building site, a guy juggling, all entertain her. We then went to the wool shop in the Grassmarket to buy some buttons for the new cardigan, got some wee penguin buttons and some boat ones.
Met up with Layla, into Ryan's Bar as Miss wanted the lavatory, mission accomplished, into Habitat to buy a picture frame. Walked with Layla to her bus as her R) foot is very sore, these damned trams are causing mayhem in town, had to walk almost the length of George St to get her bus!
Back home fed Ruaridh who was starving then made a tomato sauce for dinner which we didn't have!
Pasta, prawns sizzling ia a light paprika/tomato sauce, brocolli in garlic, bread for dinner delicious.
Washed the cardigan hopefully will put the buttons on tomorrow. Going to have a cuppa then bed to read a good book. Goodnight.

Telephones!!

Late morning and it became telephone time! felt like I had the telephone permanently to my ear. Phoning the utilities, lawyers, mother wow it took me almost two hours to start getting some of the problems resolved.
Up and about breakfast with Graham then he left, had a wash and took Ruaridh to the park and Ravelston woods had a lovely walk and the weather was great. Met up with his wee chum Jock and Jock's owner who I found out is christened Eric but gets called 'Ecky,' whose wife was coughing up blood this morning but apparently won't stop smoking!
Back home made dough for the bread, attempted to finish Bella's cardigan, blipped, spoke to mum she had been to the Dr's but nothing untoward found, he told her to rest.
Had lunch, made the bread, did some washing. Made pastry for a quiche for dinner.
Before I could say boo Graham phoned to say he was on the bus, so Ruaridh and moi set off to meet him. The wee dog is always delighted to see Graham home.
Smoked haddock quiche, roast tatties and broad beans for dinner lovely.
Continued sewing up the cardigan, then to bed. Goodnight.

Time forward!

Today was the day we put the clocks forward by one hour, meaning we all had one hour's less sleep,:(
Anyway Ruardih was bopping around at 0830h new time, so I got up and fed him and let him out, then crawled back to bed-so did he. Went back to sleep until 1015h. Got up had breakfast bought some veggie butteries in Aberdeen so had those to eat, I liked them don't know about Graham. Shower and hairwash then out with the Wonder Dog.
It is always warm at our house when the sun shines, but was quite cold on the road, anyway set off for Corstorphine Hill. Had a lovely walk, and wee Ruaridh appeared to enjoy it, met one or two dogs but no big play!
Back home had scrambled eggs on toast for lunch with a big mug of tea. Spoke to mum she is a wee bit better, I asked her to get the Dr. tomorrow if there is no improvement. Spoke to Layla, Bella and her were visiting friends then at the allotment, I well see them Tuesday.
Graham has made Minestrone Soup for dinner followed by sardines on toast, Hmmmm!
Going to attempt to finish the wee ones cardigan tonight cheers! Bye.

Sojourn in the North/East

Arrived back in Auld Reekie after a sojourn in Aberdeenshire with Layla and Miss B. We went up by train yesterday and had a lovely journey the weather was OK, sunshine but a cold wind. We went straight out to Newton Dee to have lunch there, phoned Liz our old chum to let her know we were there. Had a look round the lovely stores there, a food one and a handicraft one amazing things bought sweets for Bella and Cammy. Liz arrived and it was lovely to see her, she was great with Bella brought some lovely frogs for her to play with, we had lunch then left for Kemnay, Liz lives here and many years ago so did we.
Arrived safe and sound lovely to be there. Enjoyed meeting up with Justine, Cammy and Jack--who we haven't seen for ten years, not forgetting Peggy the Basset Hound. Bella was a wee star, we had a lovely dinner veggie stew and pasta, then lots of chat before bed.
Awoke bright and early and got up with Miss B. We had a play with aunty Liz prior to breakfast, the weather had changed and sleet/light snow was falling! After breakfast went for a walk to see our old house no nostalgia there for me, don't know about Layla she lived there from being two years--to five years. Bella threw stones into the puddles. Sarah a friend of Liz's arrived it was nice to meet her, we had decided not to go out as Liz had to run us into Aberdeen to catch our train. Lunch another play for Bella then we were off.
Good train journey, Joe met us dropped me off as they were going out for dinner. Got home about 1915h, always good to see Graham and Ruaridh.
Lovely dinner pasta with courgettes in cream, salad and bread.
Watched the programme on BBC2 'The Lost World of Communism' interesting! To bed as we put the clocks forward tonight. Bye.

That time again!

Yep allotment time again, Layla and Bella have already got one raised bed with seeds in it. The weather today was lovely when the sun was out freezing when the sun was hidden behind a cloud, needless to say we went to the allotment for an hour or so.
Up with the dog fed him and let him out, had breakfast with Graham, then a shower before Layla phoned to ask me to pop along to 'Maddie & Mark's' to see if they had a 'Star' raincoat for Bella they didn't, they are a local kiddies shop selling mainly shoes.
Put Ruaridh into the car and set off, called into Waitrose on the way to get some messages, then over to see Layla and Bella. As we arrived early we went to the plagroup to meet them, Bella was delighted to see the wee fellow. To theirs, played a while then with our packed lunch set off for the allotment, Bella was so tired she fell asleep!
Lovely walk there Layla bought coffee to have with our lunch and as soon as we got there as we were both starving we ate, Bella had already eaten hers! Did some hoeing then helped Layla move some things. When Bella awoke she did some digging and removing soil from the raised bed to the bucket very busy!
As it got cold we left, phoned Graham and he came round to the house then home. Phoned mum she has got a bad chest, hopefully the Dr. will call tomorrow.
Vegetable risotto for dinner with salad and olives, lovely.
No Blog for a couple of days as Layla, Bella and moi are going to visit my chum Liz in Aberdeen. Bye.

Haircut

Today I went to visit my hairdresser Iain for what has become my twice a year haircut! asked him to do it as Layla requested and I am very happy with the result. Headed over to see Layla and Bella as the hairdresser's is in their area and Bella had very kindly offered to look after Ruaridh:)
Graham came to their house as he missed seeing Bella last night due to being at a reception!
Layla, Bella and Ruaridh walked along the Newhaven Harbour road to meet me then we all walked back together. It was lovely in the sun but the wind was very cold on the shore.
Back at theirs had lunch then Bella and moi played football whilst Ruaridh laid in the sun and Layla went off to keep an appointment.
After a wee while set off to meet Layla, with the 'potty' on board as Bella is really good now at using it! Waiting for Layla met up with an old colleague, a really lovely girl Marie. After two minutes Bella got on with her really well doing her 'wiggly fingers' and twirls a gogo! Had a good chat and caught up on some things. She also liked Ruaridh who is a lovely wee fellow.
Layla finished, Bella fell asleep on the way home, Graham came over and we left for home.
Graham going out with John M this evening so an early dinner of chips, baked beans and a fried egg, even managed a chip butty and a big cuppa.
Going to try and catch up with some chums and do more knitting. Bye

One of those days!

Today I awoke early as I heard one of the neighbours setting off about 0500h for somereason found it difficult to nod off again, so think I dozed but who knows could have slept. Up and about around 0830h breakfast had a wash then saw Graham off before Ruaridh and moi headed off to the shore and beach. Thia is quite a long walk takes about two and half hours round trip, and I always dither about the last mile and half on the cycle track homeward bound, this part of the walk can really drag.
Today was windy but warm Ruaridh and moi had a great walk. We walked on the beach and the Wonder Dog chased leaves and played with sticks. We then went to try and find the Roman remains, found the spot of the Roman bath however it is all overgrown. Back to the beach Ruaridh had a great rough and tumble with an Airedale puppy called Paddy whose owner knows the Glen well!
Back home made a soda scone got the veggie toad in the hole ready and the potatoes for dinner. Had lunch, spoke to mum her gas is now fixed! then set off to pick up Miss B. Jumped on the 53 country bus pressed the bell for the West end stop, would you believe due to these damn trams I was hauled half way along George street!
Got Bella who was in good form, she stayed in her buggy as it was quite cold by now and we got the 24 bus home. Bella loves to walk along the street, today we both did a bit of dancing. Ruaridh was delighted to see us and after we had both done a pee Bella gave him his dinner.
Layla arrived shortly after us then Joe, we all enjoyed our dinner and Bella was good at eating hers.
We played a little, made coffee then the family got ready to go home. Just after they left Graham phoned he was trying to get a bus, phoned him back and said I would go to pick him up! had his dinner
He had the same as us for dinner said the reception went quite well.
Just done some ironing now to bed goodnight.

Sunshine.

Awoke to another sunny day, up with Ruaridh fed him and let him out, then back to bed for another half an hour, love that extra thirty minutes. Eventually rolled out of bed and got things organised breakfast, Graham's lunch etc, enjoyed my breakfast then as Graham left on his bike for the studio I went to gat a shower and wash my hair. Just in the shower, wet through, hair wet when Ruaridh started to bark like crazy. You guessed it I had left my keys in the lock, the chain had come off Graham's bike and his hands got covered in grease as he had to put the chain back! He shouted for me to let him in, blast- grabbed a towel and wrapped moi in it, then one for my hair, unlocked the door by now I was freezing! Got everything sorted, back into the hot shower to warm up!
Set off with the Wonder Dog to the park and woods, had a lovely walk in the sunshine Ruaridh met up with some of his chums and had a great play.
Back home started to clean the kitchen, always full of good intentions I did get a lot done--still oodles to do though. Had quite a few business matters to deal with, saw to these then had some lunch, then managed to pick up the stitches for the front of a cardigan mum knit for Bella.
Did some more of the garden, this is hard work, then before I knew it Graham was home.
After a cuppa made dinner pasta al forno, salad and homemade bread lovely.
Done more knitting, going to do the dishes, then later take the wee fellow for a walk. Bye.

Shopping

Gosh I do not like shopping but today we had to go to B&Q to buy some items for the room at the cottage thst John is renovating. Didn't leave as early as we would have liked but what the hell, early enough for a Sunday morning.
We got up had coffee and homemade rolls for breakfast tasted really good, Layla phoned to say Happy Mother's Day and have a chat. After a wash, put the Wonder Dog into the car and off we set. Managed to get what we wanted quite quickly also managed to buy some picture hooks that someone else had left in the basket that we used, I thought Graham had put them in but no bah!
As we were in the vicinity of Vogrie Park we had planned to take Ruaridh for a walk there, the best laid plans etc the road was closed! Never daunted we went to the beach at Joppa, although the sun was shining it was very windy, the wee fellow loved it. He played with some new friends and attempted to keep up with a 'rescue' greyhound as well.
Stopped at Waitrose on the way home to get the weekly messages, used the Foodle application on my iphone for my shopping list, worked well
Back home had a light lunch, spoke to mum wished her Happy Mother's Day and had a chat. Made the dough and tomato sauce for the pizzas that Graham is making for dinner, also made the coleslaw. The meal was delicious.
Attempting to get my blogging back on course, going to watch Celtic Connections at 2300h on BBC2. In between times going to do some knitting. Bye.

Home again after spending a couple of nights in the Red Rose County down at mum's with Layla and Bella. It was good to see mum and the weather was warm and sunny so we made the most of it. Bella loved the sand even took her shoes off and run in it, making sand pies was also great fun!
Went out to Mr Chow's for a Chinese meal and we all enjoyed it. The train journey down was OK though we were delayed amd missed our connection, coming back as usual there were problems with our reservations must phone or email Virgin trains.

St. Patrick's Day

Up and about early, Graham left for the studio after breakfast and I went and had a shower and washed my hair.
Got organised to take Ruaridh out, dithering about where to go the shore, Corstorphine Hill, anyway as soon as we got to the park Ruaridh started to pull in that direction, so into Ravelston Woods again. The two of us had a lovely walk and met no-one, strange how some days this can happen. The sun was shining and the weather was warm, so we bopped along and enjoyed the peace.
Back home made dinner for this evening as the family are coming, we are having roasted vegetables, pasta, brocolli salad and salad. Did some business things before having lunch, after lunch took Ruaridh to the park for a run as today I pick up Bella and he is left at the house.
Went up town bought myself a new rucksack and some new knickers before trotting off to see Bella.
Got Bella and had a lovely walk across the Meadows, Bella is interested in everything and everybody!
Got down to the Grassmarket to see crowds of people celebrating the Saint's Day green everywhere! Even a juggling leprechaun whom Bella was fascinated with.
My Pa was born on St. Patrick's Day and always sported a sprig of shamrock. He would have been ninety years today had he lived!
Every one enjoyed their dinner and Bella was in fine form though a wee bit tired.
May not Blog for a few days as Layla, Bella and moi head down to the Red Rose County to visit the Great Granny! It is always a busy time and we don't see much of mum so the Blog has to wait! Bye!

Monday, Monday!

No Blog again yesterday, life is very busy but enjoyable at the moment. Awoke Sunday morning to find Miss B had popped into bed with me, she had slept well and so had I. Graham had to cope with Ruaridh who was desperate to get in to visit Bella and moi. Graham and me had decided it was better for me to sleep in the same room as Bella as this was her first overnight stay! It worked!
Up had breakfast, slowly got everything organised as Layla was on the telephone asking when we were taking Bella home.
Took Bella home, the family were going to meet up with Jessie and Co. at the beach then we are all going to Karen's(Joe's mum) for dinner. We left and took Ruaridh down to the shore, where he met a Border terrier the same size as himself called Deisel, they had a great play!
Over to Karen's, good to see everyone and a lovely Sri Lankan feast thanks to Karen!

Monday--up early Ruaridh fed and out in the garden, then Graham and moi had breakfast before he left for the studio. Quick wash then Ruaridh and moi headed off to the woods in the drizzle! Had a lovely walk although it is not the longest walk I think the dog enjoys the park and Ravelston Woods, he always meets one or two of his chums here. Today was no exception and he played with Barney and
Jock.
Back home did a pile of ironing, some cleaning, business things et al.
Took Ruaridh to the park and to meet Graham he was delighted.
Leek and potato soup for dinner followed by a fried egg sandwich with a mug of tea!
Watched a couple of programmes tonight Dispatches:- Pakistan's Taliban Generation on Channel4.
In search of Wabi Sabi on BBC4 both interesting. Goodnight.

Yesterday I got a lovely surprise I got an iphone, Graham was so busy teaching me how to use it when I checked the clock it was past midnight so no Blog for yesterday-sorry. Must remember to see if I can back blog on this site!
Did the usual things in the am. before setting off to get the messages at Waitrose on my way to see Layla and Bella. I was looking after Bella for the afternoon whilst Layla went for her manicure and pedicure as she is going to a wedding tomorrow. Before that I met up with her and we took Bella and Ruaridh a walk to Newhaven harbour, where we met a lovely labradoodle called Frodo, Ruaridh and he had a great play. Back to theirs had lunch then Layla left. Bella, Ruaridh and moi all had a big sleep! well I dozed.
Graham came to pick me up about 1630h and we came home via Ocean Terminal---iphone country!
Made pizzas for dinner with homemade coleslaw lovely.
Lots to do but am tired so to bed. Good night.
Today is going to be a fun day for us as Miss B is staying over for the first time, her mummy and daddy are going to a wedding. She has got a new 'blow-up' bed to sleep in so here goes.
Picked the wee one up at 1215h with her big bag, we then headed out to Vogrie Park. It was a bit chilly but we were all well wrapped up and enjoyed the walk, and the two playparks! Ruaridh always has a great time when he gets new smells, also here he is allowed in the Conservatory part of the cafe so doesn't miss out. Enjoyed a couple of hours here, with scones a mug of tea and two baby chinos in the cafe before heading home. Fish and chips enjoyed by us all for dinner, then Bella had chocolate raisins and a surprise in her PJ's a wee Easter egg!
We played games and read lots of stories especially the one about 'The Three Pigs'this appears to be a firm favorite!
Chats, more stories, songs and eventually the wee one slept. Goodnight.

Knitting

I spent part of this afternoon starting to finish the cardigan that my mum has knit for Miss B. she has made a lovely job of it, but finds it somewhat difficult to pick up and knit the garment together. Have done the neckband and will hopefully finish the rest before we go to mum's Wednesday next!
Up with Graham, had breakfast then a wash. Did some commenting on blip then left with the Wonder Dog to walk down to the shore. Lovely sunshine with a strong wind, managed to miss most of the rain. Felt really good, Ruaridh met some dogs and had a good play with them, walked on the beach and met the women Beth, and her dog Muffin. I grabbed a lift with her up to the cycle path, when I met her before I told her about blipfoto, she repeated the name ten times so not to forget it, guess what she did, this time pen to paper.
Home had lunch then made shepherdess pie for dinner. Before Graham come home did some cleaning and made a soda bread. Had the pie and broad beans for dinner it was delicious.
Spoke to Layla see them tomorrow. Bye.

Breakfast and wash then cleaned the rest of the debris from the second Room of Doom! Got ready to take this down to the village skip and then went a walk on the beach, today it stayed fine with some sunshine though the rain caught us right at the end of the walk. Ruaridh enjoyed his walk and the stone throwing and skimming, he misses this in Edinburgh!
Back home had lunch then I got stuck into the cleaning, phew I was glad when this was all done, it seemed to take an age!
Went to have a shower and wash my hair--shower kaput! damn had a bath then the three of us went over to Christine's, took her a chair over that is now a spare. Thomas had been earlier and left, his schedule had changed or something sorry to miss him, he missed his jar of cucumber relish!

Lazy with Blog's

Recently I have been very lazy with my blogging, attempting to write but not putting up a daily photograph. Sorry about this but with one thing and another have been quite busy!
Up early this morning with the wee fellow for food and a pee, made the early cuppa back to bed for a wee while. Up had breakfast then Graham continued to take the tongue in groove off the walls. The rain poured down, my job was to stack all the wood outside where it was unlikely to blow away, it was hard work. Went down to John's house to pick up a tarpaulin to put the plaster board in, once again attempted a walk, phew the wind blew and the rain lashed down, had a walk on the shore by the Church of Scotland a lovely wee kirk, then back home had lunch. Got the plaster board wrapped in the tarpaulin, then I made a leek quiche as Christine our neighbour was coming to dinner.
We ate this with roast potato's and broad beans lovely. Good evening, catching up.
Phoned mum she appears good. Layla telephoned and they all had a good weekend, she said Bella was much better.
To bed after a busy day. Goodnight.

Stripping the second bedroom.

Today we continued the work getting the second big bedroom ready for John H to do the renovation. Graham started to take off the plaster board before breakfast! had breakfast then after a wash I got stuck in too. The weather was atrocious heavy rain, Ruaridh was fed up with us working and the weather. I started to break up the plaster board and bag it, 10 bags, we left about ten big sheets for the skip when we are up in April.
Down to the village shop then an attempt to take the wee fellow for a walk, far to windy and wet so we came back home. Had lunch then John H arrived to discuss the renovation, he also took the bags of plaster board to the skip--yes!

Carry Out.

As Graham and moi were both going to be late home, I popped into the dreaded supermarket to pick up an Indian take away. Graham and Joe had an important meeting today, I was working a long day so Ruaridh went to the studio first with Graham, then when he left Hilda very kindly looked after him. We rendezvoused at my work then she kindly run moi and the Wonder Dog to the supermarket! She waited with Ruaridh whilst I went in for the goodies, then we said goodbye to her and walked home.
Graham was not too late and the meeting appears to have gone well!
Had our Indian meal which tasted good, I then did my blip and Blog and then made some potato scones.
We are hoping to be up early in the morning as we are heading to the Glen for a long weekend, to get the other big bedroom ready for renovating!
Spoke quickly to mum, she appears to be OK.

Fish van day.

Wednesday is the day Kev with his fish van comes to our area. He arrives at 1115h and stays for an hour selling fish, tatties, eggs, even oatcakes, the fish by the way is delicious. He hadn't arrived by the time I got there but already a queue had started to form. Discussions ranged from what a shame the sun was on the opposite side of the road, to how wonderful Border terriers are!! Kev arrived on the dot, bought my fish lovely haddock and also got a piece for Bella.
Up with Graham this morning, saw to Ruaridh then had breakfast, Graham left and I had a shower and washed my hair, before taking Ruaridh to the park and woods! met up with some of his mates he did play but not too long. Back home daelt with some business matters then went to get the fish.
After which the wee fellow and me jumped into the car and left to see Layla and Bella. Bella was still a little under the weather but feeling better. We did some jigsaws before getting ready to go out with the Wonder Dog. Had a good walk down to the harbour, back at the house we all had lunch then Bella had a sleep. A neighbour of Layla's Megan gave us a lovely log basket hoping to take it to the Glen on Friday. Read to the wee one when she woke up, then left for home around 1730h. Called in at the dreaded supermarket on the way home for a few messages.
Graham at a meeting, home late so we didn't eat our fish and chips with peas and parsley sauce until around 2130h but it tasted very good.
Tired and so to bed. Bye.

Problems

Up with Ruaridh at 0800h fed him and let him into the garden, then crawled back into bed for an extra 30 minutes. Up breakfast with Graham then a wash before taking Ruaridh out to the park and woods. As I write this I realise just how regular and somewhat mundane my Blogs have become, will have to attempt to liven them up.
Great walk today met lots of dogs in the wood, on the way back to the park met the wee Border terrier puppy Kelsie what a wee charmer, Ruaridh loves to play with her and appears to be quite gentle. Then Barney and Daisy arrived so lots of fun.
Down to Waitrose registered my concern re the tomatoes got a double refund, customer services are very good here. Did my shopping then to Homebase to buy a new deck brush, got it home and attempted to brush the path and the head fell off, couldn't believe it, a problem with screwing the handle in it didn't work. Phoned them and they said to take it back for a replacement, which I did at 1730h after meeting Graham off the bus with Ruaridh.
Did about an hour in the garden starting to look much better now. Had lunch, listened to last Friday's play on playback and did some knitting.
Made a vegetable pie for dinner, with mashed tatties and cabbage tasted delicious.
Spoke to Layla she said the wee one is better, then spoke to mum and she sounds to be on good form.
Bye.

Hail

Up around 0800h to feed and let Ruaridh out into the garden. Back to bed to doze and read the Saturday Guardian. Up and about, porridge for breakfast then a wash. Layla telephoned, Bella is still not herself so a quiet day.
We set off to Corstorphine Hill with the wee fellow for a walk in brilliant sunshine, loads of dogs there today. Had a good walk, on the way down noticed the dark clouds rolling in from the west, then the rain sweeping in down the Forth. Suddenly we were in the middle of a hail storm, nothing we could do as there was no shelter, didn't last to long almost home before the rain came!
No gardening done today hopefully tomorrow. Spoke to Layla again she sent me a link to some professional development she may do. Spoke to mum she is feeling good today.
Made bread, did some ironing, Graham made dinner, leek and potato soup with crackers followed by sardines on toast and a cuppa, lovely.
Phoned Liz hoping to see her at the end of this month in Aberdeen.
Watching a programme about Hitchcock by Paul Merton on BBC4. Bye.
