The Beach

Graham, Ruaridh and moi spent this afternoon with Layla and Bella at Tyningham beach and magical it was too! We took cooked veggie sausages and coffee, bought some thick breadsticks and milk and away we went.
It was a lovely day warm with the sun shining, good journey then a lovely walk down to the beach which as usual looked stunning. Not many people there and immediately we were on the sands Bella had her shoes and socks off. We walked to a sunny spot, Bella and Ruaridh running, some stone throwing for the wee fellow then we sat down or in Bella's case walked about and had a light lunch!
We climbed sand dunes then took another way off the beach, through the dunes and spiky grass which was lovely.
Drove home, left the family as they were going to a Halloween Party. Layla gave us a tray of fennel in white sauce with cheese for dinner.
Graham got dinner ready pasta and fennel with salad absolutely delicious.

The wee fellow was delighted to see me, I gave him lots of cuddles then he had his dinner, then I took him for a walk along the cycle path and through Victoria Park. Back to Layla's waited for them to return from IKEA, as I was looking after Bella until Joe got home from the meetings. They arrived back of five then Layla left for work. We went down on to the beach and had a great walk in the freezing cold, down towards the sea then across to the causeway that runs from the mainland to Cramond Island. Memories!

Around lunchtime today the family came over to see if Layla's old Dolls House kept in the loft could be renovated for Miss B. sadly due to various reasons it was decided this would not be feasible--

Over thirty years ago a wee girl asked Santa for a Doll's House!
G helped Santa out by making this, then my mum, dad, G and moi stayed up until around 0300h on Christmas Day morning decorating and putting the finishing touches to the house.
At 0500h the wee girl awoke and asked if Santa had been, we got up and he had.
She sat mesmerised in front of the Doll's House but didn't touch it.
Then she turned and said 'It is lovely but the front door is to small for me to get in:)'
We all laughed and then to her relief G took the front of the house off and there were the rooms with furniture and even lights, she had many happy hours playing with it.

--and I'm afraid it will have to go into the bin. Layla, Bella, Ruaridh and moi went to get the reast of the apples off Patricia's tree-lovely big red ones-hmmm.
We then all went to the park and Bella had a great time with her Daddy and Grandpa on the play park. Met two lovely women one in her nineties who live in a Residential Home good to chat with them.
The family left and we took the Wonder Dog for a walk in the woods. Phoned mum when I got back she appears to be OK.
Back home did some knitting, Graham made Minestrone soup which we had with croutons for dinner followed by sardines and raw onions on peasant bread with a cuppa--yummy!
Made an apple pie for after and it tasted delicious.
To bed. Goodnight.

Torrential Rain

Today we awoke to torrential rain, so bad Ruaridh after his breakfast was extremely reluctant to go into the garden. Back to bed, up breakfast and after Graham left for the office a wash before donning wet weather gear and trotting off to the woods.
Although the rain lashed down the wee fellow and moi had an amazing walk through the woods, no sun yet some of the leaves on the trees had light on them, the ones on the ground wet and shiny--amazing.
Back home made the dough for the peasant bread, made pesto and the pastry for a quiche.
Had lunch and listened to the afternoon play on Radio 4 'The Road Wife' interesting. Then attacked a pile of ironing. Phoned mum she appears to be OK though said she couldn't get going yesterday?

Threading of Eyebrows!

Hoped to get an opticians appointment today--no joy will have to wait until Saturday afternoon. Went up town and got my eyebrows 'threaded' by the Nepelese woman at Debenham's, Layla told me about this and this is the second time I have been! It doesn't hurt but is a wee bit more than a tickle:) Also bought a book for Cammy then caught the bus home.
Up with Ruaridh then back to bed as Graham was going to Glasgow and didn't need to be up until later. After breakfast and Graham had left had to get Ruaridh off the bed for his walk, to say he was reluctant is an understatement, eventually he roused himself and off we set.
Lovely walk through the woods didn't meet another person or dog enjoyed the sun, cold and the peace.
Back home attempted to get a parcel ready for Canada, no joy the cheap brown paper kept on ripping after two attempts gave up and went up town!
Back from town had a veggie bacon and egg sandwich with two big mugs of coffee--hmmmm. Listened to the afternoon play 'Ivan and the Dogs' very good!
Sorted some business issues out, then set off with the wee fellow to meet Graham off the train along the Roseburn cycle path.

Had a cuppa then made a veggie risotto for dinner with salad.
Going to do some knitting. Bye.

After the dentist Ruaridh and moi drove down to the shore and beach it was freezing and the wind blowing from the West was sooo cold! thank goodness I had put on my duvet jacket--cozy. Lovely relaxing walk felt good.
Drove to the 'new' Sainsbury's with all the empty bottles, so decided to go in to get the messages. I was surprised at the difference, wide aisles, good prices etc so I meandered round and had a good look and bought what I wanted!

Misty Day

Spent a lovely day with Bella and Ruaridh. Layla had to attend a workshop today so Ruaridh and moi were on the road at 0900h this morning to stay with Bella. She was up and dressed when we arrived her daddy left for work and we had to decide what we were going to do.
We had thought to make beetroot chutney but decided against that for various reasons. So we played with the bricks had a snack of crackers and grapes and then got ready to go to the shore via the cycle path. The only problem being we could not find Bella's scooter we searched everywhere--Daddy's car, cupboard under the steps, the bike shed and daddy's shed in the end we decided Mummy must have it in her car.
Out with the buggy and off we set, had a lovely walk along the cycle path, did our voice echo's in the tunnels along the way:). Ruaridh loves this walk lots of adventures for him.
When we came off the cycle path to head for the shore the east wind was very strong and a sea mist was down. we had a walk to the lighthouse and saw the crab/lobster boat out in the bay rocking and rolling in the big waves. Graham phoned and we arranged to meet him at The Guilty Lily for lunch as we can take Ruaridh in there. Pitta bread, hummus, pesto and chips went down well. After this we walked back home.
Bella and moi had a great time building houses, we had such a laugh at the thought of me going rolling away if I stood on one of the round bricks. We then read stories and Bella sat to watch her favorite 'Charlie and Lola'.
Layla was soon home followed by Graham and Joe. We got ready Bella put on a lovely dress as we were going to Chop Chop for my Birthday dinner.
Lovely food enjoyed by all. We dropped the family off and came home dropping in at the refurbished Sainsbury's on the way home HUGE!
Watched 'Secret Iraq' on iPlayer very interesting, wore my new dressing gown sipping a red wine and eating M&M's then fell fast asleep on the sofa-to bed. Goodnight.

Room on the Broom!

Today was my birthday and the birthday celebrations kicked off early this morning with a visit to the King's theatre to see 'Room on the Broom'. I was accompanied by Bella, Graham and Layla, the Wonder Dog sat in the car! Good show if somewhat noisy, think Bella liked it with the rest of the bairns.
After the show drove over to theirs for lunch, and to sing Happy Birthday and to eat the delicious strawberry Birthday cake made by Layla and Bella. We went a walk along the cycle path and then to Victoria Park, Bella had a wee shot on the play park.
Back at theirs Layla had to go to a meeting so Bella, Ruaridh and moi were in the garden. Bella is great on her swing and can now work it standing up, even stand on one leg! She is also picking up from her pre school age old chants like 'Granny is in the kitchen doing a bit of stitching----'and bouncing on her trampoline to this.
Grandpa arrived followed shortly by Joe, veggie burgers in buns, chips and beans were the order of the day for dinner -lovely. By the time we had finished Layla was home and Bella was in bed, we left. A super day with with lovely gifts and great company. Thanks to mum for her gift-hoping to buy a Fjallraven rucksack. To Graham, Bella, Layla and Joe thanks for your lovely pressies.
Goodnight.

Allotment day again

Came back from visiting the memsahib last night. Had a lovely two days with her and the weather was warm and sunny on Monday! Bit of a nightmare journey to start with from Preston three older women hitting the vodka and coke and two wee lasses with them causing mayhem--must say a sigh of relief went through the carriage when they left after about an hour on the train. Though I must say I did feel sorry for the wee ones.
Up and about with the Wonder Dog today then back to bed for an hour. Up--then made breakfast when Graham left for studio had a shower and washed my hair. Then took Ruaridh for a walk in the woods, had a lovely walk through the woods and meadowland. Went to get fish off Kev the fishman for dinner, then back home got ready to go and see Layla and Bella. Into the car with Ruaridh then off.
Met the girls at the house and we had lunch before driving to the allotment, the weather one moment sunshine the next light rain!! Picked all the tomatoes that were ready, also courgettes, dug up some tatties and beetroot, got some brocolli, corn and swiss chard also some damsons but they are past their best. Unfortunately the onions in the wheelbarrow in the greenhouse had got soaked, so we had to remove some from the shelf they were drying on take those home then put the damp ones in their place to dry! Drove back to theirs and sorted the veg. then I left to pick up Graham at the studio and we drove home. Phoned mum she is fine.
Fish, rice and tomato sauce for dinner lovely.

Decided to go to town today as I wanted to book my train tickets for mum's, also this morning I had booked tickets for 'Room on the Broom' and decided to pick them up from 'The Festival Theatre'. It rained cats and dogs however never daunted in wet weather jacket and brandishing my brolly off I set.
Got a good deal on my train ticket-- 'First Travel' have extended the 'Club 55' to Preston at least, so I saved £50! Picked up the tickets for the theatre. Went to Waterstone's to get Graham a book bought 'Obama's Wars', which Graham says is very interesting! popped into Holland and Barret's to buy veggie sausage and bacon then managed to get a bus home straight away!
Ruaridh pleased to see me though he was busy playing with his plastic bone, gave him his lunch then had mine.
Spent ages sorting my O2 bill out, made tomato sauce for dinner. Went to meet Graham off the bus via the park, Ruaridh did not wish to go into the woods. This morning on our walk we found tracks in the woods closed again due to the tree cutting, a huge tractor in the woods and 'lumberjacks' sawing two huge trees down. We were able to do our constitutional and as we left the tractor was dragging one of the trees away.
Met Graham had a cuppa then crisps with a G&T before dinner of pasta, tomato sauce, salad and bread lovely.
Did some knitting then bed. Goodnight.
