Stir-up-Sunday

Had decided to make the annual family Christmas Cake today, then noticed in the media it is Stir-up-Sunday, so hit the right day! I use my maternal Grandmother's recipe and have no idea how many Christmas cakes have been made from it, I should think many as my Grandma gave the recipe to an up and coming young baker years ago and his company still use it today!
Awake early don't know if I went back to sleep, Graham brought me a cuppa at 1000h , stayed in bed reading, then up to make breakfast. Scrambled eggs on toast with a big mug of coffee, yummy.
Took Ruaridh to the woods then over to the supermarket to get supplies, started on the cake when we got back. Lovely to weigh out all the fruit and see the different colours, the golden butter and sugar, I must confess to wiping my finger round the bowl and scraping the mixture into my mouth! Cake mixture into the oven to bake for three hours.
Phoned mum she is OK. Then spoke to Layla who had just arrived home from the retreat!
Graham decided to do a mushroom tart for dinner had to wait until the oven was empty. The mushroom tart was delicious with roast potatoes and broccoli.
Did some knitting then to bed. Goodnight.
