Over the sea to Skye-2

Today the weather was much improved, more sunshine than rain. The Glenelg ferry that runs from Glenelg to Kylerhea on Skye from April to October was launched again today. Over the past few months debate has raged as to whether the service would be available this year and in the future, as the current owner wishes to sell the boat 'The Glenachulish'. First it was thought a community buy-out by the Glenelg and Arnisdale Community Development Trust would be possible, but this was rejected by residents in the two villages in a ballot.
Now The Isle of Skye Ferry Community Interest Company have reached an agreement with the present owner and the Ferry is almost theirs, it would appear The Community Development Trust have been pipped at the post. We popped over to see the Ferry and were pleased to note that lots of cars were using the service, also cyclists.
