Japanese Garden

This week we visited a private Japanese garden and woodland. Although the garden was somewhat austere for my taste, the woodland area was stunning. The man who owned the house at the time of the construction, designed the garden and the woodland, the hard work of labouring was carried out by a man local to the area, and a super job he did. Huge round slices of tree trunk, mark the way from the garden into the woodland, gradually decreasing in size. Seats and small temples or shrines are placed at strategic points in the woods, along with chimes making for a peaceful and meditative atmosphere, made more life enhancing when the sun shines and filters through the branches of the trees.
